Francistown, Botswana

Francistown – Capital of the East

Francistown is a city in east Botswana, near the Zimbabwean border. A 19th-century gold rush town, its history is chronicled at the Supa Ngwao Museum, which also has traditional wood carvings and cultural exhibits on the local Kalanga people. To the south, Tachila Nature Reserve shelters wildlife such as hyenas and leopards. North of town, the Domboshaba ruins are a set of centuries-old stone walls and enclosures.
